# Onboarding Dashboard

> Define an onboarding funnel in Klaritics and see step-wise counts, conversion rates, and where new users drop off before completing their first action.

The Onboarding dashboard shows how new users start using your product and where they drop off. In plain terms:

> Are new users able to get started easily?

It covers the signup flow, the first-time user journey, and drop-offs across onboarding steps — for example:

```text theme={null}
App Open → Signup → Profile Setup → First Action
```

Use it to improve the first-time user experience and reduce drop-offs during signup.

***

## Before a funnel is defined

If no funnel has been defined, the dashboard shows an empty state prompting you to configure onboarding steps:

```text theme={null}
Define Onboarding Funnel   [ Select Event ]
```

All other dashboard actions are disabled until a funnel exists. Clicking either **Select Event** or **Configurations** takes you to the Product Analytics Configurations page, landing on the Onboarding Analysis page.

***

## Define the funnel steps

On the Onboarding Analysis page, you define onboarding steps by selecting events. Each step represents a single event, and steps are ordered sequentially.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select an event">
    Use the event selector to search for and select an event. Each step supports optional filters via **+ Filter by**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add more steps">
    Use **+ Add Event** to add a new step. New steps are appended to the end of the list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the configuration">
    Saving stores the funnel configuration and updates the Onboarding dashboard.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  A funnel must contain at least **two** events. The save button stays disabled while fewer than two events are selected, and the funnel cannot be visualized below that threshold.
</Warning>

**Discard Changes** reverts unsaved changes and restores the last saved configuration.

***

## Funnel visualization

Once events are selected, the funnel appears alongside KPI metric cards for **Overall Conversion**, **Step-Wise Count**, and **Conversion**.

By default the Overall Conversion metric card is selected and the funnel visualization is shown. Selecting a step-wise metric card switches the display to a line graph. You can also change the visualization between **Funnel** and **Line Graph** directly.

### Click actions

Clicking a data point lets you:

* View Users
* Download Users
* Create Cohort

### Explore further

An option is provided to continue in the chart creation interface. Clicking it redirects you to the [Funnels](/analysis/funnels) creation page.

## Breakdown and metric table

Break metrics down by specific dimensions to identify behavior differences across segments.

By default the breakdown options are **Country**, **Device**, and **Platform**, and you can select any other property as well.

The metric table displays step-wise count and conversion rate:

| Metric | Description |
| :- | :- |
| **Overall Conversion** | Conversion rate of the overall funnel |
| **Step 1 Event** | Step 1 count and conversion rate |
| **Step 2 Event** | Step 2 count and conversion rate |

The visualization changes as you select and deselect rows in the data table.

***

## Filters and controls

Filter the dashboard by **user properties** or **session properties**. Segments, the data freshness indicator, date range, and time granularity work as described in the [Product Analytics overview](/product-analytics/overview).
