# Retention Dashboard

> Track overall retention, Day 7 retention over time, and usage interval in Klaritics, with configurable retention events and daily or weekly intervals.

The Retention dashboard shows how many users come back to your product over time. In plain terms:

> Are users coming back after using the product?

It covers Day 1, Day 7, and Day 30 retention, cohort analysis, and returning versus churned users — for example, 100 users joined and 30 came back after 7 days. Use it to measure product stickiness and improve long-term engagement.

## KPI metric cards

### Overall Retention

The percentage of users that perform an event and return to perform that event on or after a specific day. Tracks how many users return across:

```text theme={null}
Day 0 → Day 1 → Day 2 → ... → Day N
```

By default, the selected event is **Any Event**.

### Day 7 Retention Over Time

The percentage of users that perform an event and return to perform that event on or after Day 7.

### Usage Interval

The percentage of active users that have performed Any Event with a median frequency of X days.

An option is provided to continue in the chart creation interface. Clicking it redirects you to the [Retention](/analysis/retention) creation page.

## Breakdown and metrics table

Break metrics down by specific dimensions to identify behavior differences across segments. You can select any available property.

The retention data table is shown for the selected event.

***

## Configuration

Click **Configurations** to open the Product Analytics Configuration page and land on the Retention Analysis creation page.

### Retention events

> Which event best represents a user returning to and engaging with your product?

Select events using the event selector, with event filter support. Default value is **Any Event**, and you can select **two** events.

### Retention interval

> What is the retention interval you are interested in?

| Type | Options |
| :- | :- |
| **Daily Retention** | Day 1, Day 7, Day 14, Day 30 |
| **Weekly Retention** | Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4 |

Default selection: **Day 7, Week 1**. The selected intervals determine which retention metrics appear on the dashboard.

### Default segment

> Apply a default segment

A segment selector, defaulting to **All Users**. The chosen segment applies across dashboards, and all analytics queries use it unless changed.

### Saving

**Save** stores all configuration changes.

<Warning>
  At least one event must be selected before the configuration can be saved.
</Warning>

**Discard Changes** reverts all unsaved changes.

Configuration changes impact KPI metrics, charts, retention calculations, and the retention table.

## Filters and controls

Filter the dashboard by **user properties** or **session properties**. Segments, the data freshness indicator, date range, and time granularity work as described in the [Product Analytics overview](/product-analytics/overview).
