Why roles matter
Without roles, every user would have the same level of access. Roles let you:- Limit who can create or delete dashboards
- Control who can manage event taxonomy and integrations
- Decide who can invite new users or change billing settings
Common role concepts
Most teams design roles around three levels of access. These are patterns, not fixed system names, so you can adapt them to your organization.Admin
Full access to all modules, user management, and system settings. Typically reserved for platform owners.
Analyst
Can create analyses, build dashboards, and configure widgets. Cannot manage users or system-level settings.
Viewer
Can view dashboards and analyses shared with them. Cannot create or edit content.
How to assign roles
Roles are assigned when you invite a user or when you edit an existing user account. Each user must have exactly one role. If someone needs broader access, change their role in the user settings.Changes to a role take effect immediately. Users do not need to log out and back in.
